Water Treasures of Dobbiaco

Water is a precious in Toblach. The eight treasures of water in Dobbiaco, which were opened about a year ago, are situated in different places of the country.

Toblach lies on the watershed of two major rivers. One is the Drava river, which rises in Dobbiaco and flows into the Danube and the other is the Rienza, which flows in the Adige.

Coming back from the alpine pasture

When the days become shorter, the nights cooler and the air clearer, then the shepherds and the cows and sheeps came back from the mountain pastures.

The return to Dobbiaco - Toblach will take place on Saturday, 24th September 2011. 300 animals will arrive around noon in the square in the centre of Dobbiaco and continue along the Via Gustav Mahler Straße to the farm “Troger”.

The day will end with typical music and traditional specialties of the area.

Evening shopping in Dobbiaco - Toblach

The Via San Giovanni in Dobbiaco from 20th July to the 24th August 2011 every Wednesday will be transformed in a true avenue of shopping.

In addition to the open shops there will be traditional music, typical Schuhplattler, DJ, a bouncy castle and a make-up corner for kids. Come to relish a holiday in the Dolomites and spend a shopping evening in Dobbiaco. 

Music time in Alta Pusteria

Dobbiaco in this Summer offers high quality music, famous artists and a lot of entertainment. Gustav Mahler is the central figure of the two music festivals, which will take place in the renowned Cultural Centre Grand Hotel.

As part of the centenary of the death of the famous Bohemian composer, the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks offer a very special program. But even during the 2nd edition of the Festival Alto Adige Mahler/Kontraste/Belcanto the most important works of Gustav Mahler, who from 1908 to 1910 spent his summer vacation in Dobbiaco, will be performed.

Joe Cocker in Val Pusteria

The famous musician Joe Cocker this year as part of its "Hard Knocks Tour 2011" will be a guest in Brunico in South Tyrol. The concert will take place on Saturday, July 16, 2011 in Brunico in Piazza Municipio.

Without doubt, Joe Cocker more than 40 years is a very big star in the international music business and his music reaches the hearts of his fans.

The highest climbing tower in Italy

The newly built Nordic Arena at Dobbiaco in Alta Pusteria is a meeting place for athletes and sports lovers. Where cross country skiing friends in winter pass their holidays in summer there is a professional trail for roller skating.

Bud the highlight of the Nordic Arena is the climbing centre with 23 m high climbing walls, 80 routes up to 28 m, difficulty levels from 4B to 9A an boulder zone.
Take part in climbing courses for beginners, advanced and schools.

This was the Worldcup – Tour de Ski in Dobbiaco

The races of the Tour de Ski in Dobbiaco in Alta Pusteria were exciting and spectacular.

Under optimal conditions of the snow and the trails the top athletes enjoyed the different competitions. Unique was also the route around and even over the newly built Nordic Arena.

The star of the races in Dobbiaco was the 24 years old Swiss Dario Cologna, who won the single race over 35 km with handicap start from Cortina to Toblach and a few days later the overall victory in the Val di Fiemme. On the second place was Petter Northug. Congratulations!

News from the ski area Alta Pusteria

The Alta Pusteria Valley has great news for all ski fans: 77 km of pistes! This, because the Ski Area Comelico, situated at the south-east of the Passo Monte Croce, is now part of the Sexnter Dolomiten – Alta Pusteria skiing carousel.

The skipass Sextner Dolomiten – Alta Pusteria entitles you tou use all the cable cars and lifts of both areas. Fantastic ski days wait for you in the Dolomites, UNESCO natural World heritage site.
