With the horse-drawn sleigh to the Lake of Dobbiaco

Woods and fields with deep snow are glistening in the sunlight - this is the Hochpustertal in winter. Dobbiaco this season offers romantic horse-drawn sleigh excursions.

The horses walk elegantly and passengers, wrapped in warm blankets, can enjoy the winter scenery. The starting point is the parking at the Nordic Arena. From here the trail passes near the idyllic houses of the Seghe and along a romantic path through the forest you reach the Lake of Dobbiaco.

Now relish a spicy mulled wine and a delicious South Tyrolean apple strudel.

The apartments of the Residence Laurin

The winter is coming and soon will open the winter season in Dobbiaco in Alta Pusteria. How about a holiday in a cozy apartment?

The Residence Laurin, directly next to the Hotel Laurin, has two comfortable apartments. Both apartments have one bedroom, a living room, a kitchenette, a bathroom, a washing machine, satellite TV and a telephone.

Right next to the Residence Laurin you can enter in the country skiing trail and enjoy the beautiful winter landscape on skis. 

Water Treasures of Dobbiaco

Water is a precious in Toblach. The eight treasures of water in Dobbiaco, which were opened about a year ago, are situated in different places of the country.

Toblach lies on the watershed of two major rivers. One is the Drava river, which rises in Dobbiaco and flows into the Danube and the other is the Rienza, which flows in the Adige.

Coming back from the alpine pasture

When the days become shorter, the nights cooler and the air clearer, then the shepherds and the cows and sheeps came back from the mountain pastures.

The return to Dobbiaco - Toblach will take place on Saturday, 24th September 2011. 300 animals will arrive around noon in the square in the centre of Dobbiaco and continue along the Via Gustav Mahler Straße to the farm “Troger”.

The day will end with typical music and traditional specialties of the area.

Joe Cocker in Val Pusteria

The famous musician Joe Cocker this year as part of its "Hard Knocks Tour 2011" will be a guest in Brunico in South Tyrol. The concert will take place on Saturday, July 16, 2011 in Brunico in Piazza Municipio.

Without doubt, Joe Cocker more than 40 years is a very big star in the international music business and his music reaches the hearts of his fans.

The highest climbing tower in Italy

The newly built Nordic Arena at Dobbiaco in Alta Pusteria is a meeting place for athletes and sports lovers. Where cross country skiing friends in winter pass their holidays in summer there is a professional trail for roller skating.

Bud the highlight of the Nordic Arena is the climbing centre with 23 m high climbing walls, 80 routes up to 28 m, difficulty levels from 4B to 9A an boulder zone.
Take part in climbing courses for beginners, advanced and schools.

The cross country slopes in Dobbiaco

Dobbiaco is a real eldorado for cross country skiing. Only in Dobbiaco you find about 120 km of pistes. And you can, always skiing, reach up to Sesto or Braies. Most of the tracks passes at the new cross country stadium of Dobbiaco, directly behind the Hotel Laurin. 

Winter hiking in Dobbiaco

Dobbiaco is famous for cross country skiing but it offers also a lot of possibilities for winter hiking. During winter months the walking path will be cleared from snow and are perfect accessible.
One of those is the excursion to the lake of Dobbiaco. The trail starts a few minutes from our hotel and in about ½ hour you just arrive at the lake. There you have the possibility to continue for the walking. An educational path with 11 stations leads around the lake. Walking time about 1 ½ hour. Obviously you have also the possibility to take some warm drink at the lake and to walk back.
